The Dignity Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Boston. We empower children, teens and families with life and leadership skills through SMART Conversations® and The Arts.
1. The 7th Element™ Afterschool & Summer programs for youth, ages 5-15. Our Youth Program focuses on equipping children and teens with leadership and life skills in preparation for good citizenship and meaningful lives. We provide our afterschool and summertime activities through our collaborative partners. Our evidence-based program correlates life success with emotional intelligence and self-awareness, which builds self-respect and leads to making better decisions. Our “whole person” approach connects body-mind-spirit and fosters personal growth and lifelong learning.
2. Pathway to Profession™ for Teens, 16-19. Our newly developed Youth Leadership Workforce Development Program serves teens who are at-risk of or are within one year of having dropped out of school. This portfolio-based program gives teens a way to harness their purpose and passion through the Urban Arts. Once a teen selects a pathway (positive rap/songwriting, fashion, dance, art, media or DJ-ing), they build self-awareness. At the same time, we use our SMART Conversations® program to increase their Emotional Intelligence.* Key topics in our curriculum include: Professional Development, Arts Engagement, Literacy, Financial Literacy, Hi-Set (GED Equivalent), Entrepreneurship and Technology.
3. SMART Conversations® for Families. We provide our professional, corporate workshops to empower families, so they can talk together and stand up for themselves. We also offer our workshops to human services nonprofits to help them become efficient and effective, and create diversity-friendly workplaces. Once they are running smoothly, we deploy our signature SMART Conversations® Train-the-Trainer program, so they can empower the people they serve.
